Introducing the New Membership Directory

As long-time members of Hayward Golf Club will recall, in the past we provided a hard-copy version of our Membership Directory to facilitate contact between members.

Now that so much physical media has been supplanted by the digital space, we wanted to update our Membership Directory for the 21st century, while still giving all of our members the ability to find contact information with ease.

So, if you go to the Hayward Golf Club website (haywardgolf.com), you will notice a tab at the top of the page that says “Membership.” Hover over that, and a dropdown box with the option “Member Directory” will be revealed. Clicking on that will take you to a password login page.

This page is password protected, and passwords will only be given out to members at Hayward Golf Club who are interested.  Obviously, as people sign up for memberships throughout the off- and early season, the directory will continue to be updated.

And as a reminder, with Spring (theoretically!) around the corner, HERE is our 2019 Membership Application Form.

2nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Cornhole Tournament – Saturday, March 16th

Registration will begin at 12:00pm, with bags beginning to fly at 1:00pm.

Format: 2 person teams. Space is limited to the first 24 teams. After three round robin matches, the players will be split into two brackets, championship and social, based on performance during the round robin series.

Cost: $25 dollars per player. Entry includes game play, pizza buffet, and a chance at prize money. Full Cash bar will be available. Team names, uniforms and spectators are encouraged!  Email info@haywardgolf.com if you are interested!

Finally, we wanted to acknowledge a couple big prize winners of our recent Super Bowl Board promotion and watch party.

Super Bowl Watch Party in the Caddyshak Bar & Grill

On Sunday, February 3rd, we’re hosting a Super Bowl Watch Party in the Caddyshak. The bar will open at 4:00pm in anticipation of the game’s kick-off at 5:30pm. Full bar available, select snacks provided, and pizza available to order.

During the festivities, there will be a variety of additional in-game activities that will make watching a non-Packers Super Bowl a little more exciting! There will also be pool, cornhole, and darts available to play throughout the evening.

We want to thank the Men’s 18-Hole League for their generous donation of a new 55-inch Samsung television for the bar to provide exceptional viewing capabilities!

Also, the Super Bowl square board has been filled, and we will be tracking its progress throughout the game, with winners being paid-out at the end of each quarter. You do not have to be present to win.

Course Improvement Initiatives — Super Bowl Square Board and Watch Party

A new committee has been formed at Hayward Golf Club to help raise funds for on-course projects and upgrades at the facility outside of the normal operating budget of the club.

We are looking to raise $25,000 a year for 3 years through a variety of events, fundraisers, and initiatives so that the facility and course can continue to improve while the Board and Staff commit to plans for installing the new irrigation system, which is currently slated to happen in 2020.

Examples of on-course projects coming in 2019 include:
• Extension of the cart path on Hole #9
• New white tee box on Hole #13
• New patio furniture for the Caddyshak Bar & Grill
• Additional assorted improvements

The first of these capital-raising events is already underway in the form of a Super Bowl Square Board in the Pro Shop. The board has 100 squares, and each square costs $25. Each square is associated with a set of secret numbers (to be revealed later), and if your numbers correspond to the score of the game at the end of each of the four quarters, you win!

We’re hosting a Super Bowl Watch Party in the Caddyshak on Sunday, February 3rd, and during the game we’ll be handing out the eight cash payouts of $150 each (2 at the end of each quarter), accounting for 50% of the funds collected, with the remaining 50% of the entry money going towards the 2019 on-course improvements mentioned above. We will also be selecting one random mystery square worth $50 as an additional giveaway!

We will be rolling out additional initiatives as the year progresses, so stay tuned, and we are open to suggestions and recommendations as we look to get the most bang for our buck with the funds raised. We’re happy to take any suggestions!

We’re looking forward to engaging with the HGC community throughout this coming golf season as we continue to improve the high-quality product we offer here at Hayward Golf Club!

New Social Membership for 2019

For 2019, we are implementing a new option among the range of our membership choices: a revamped Social Membership. We’ve offered Social Memberships in the past, but this year we are adding additional value to make this membership attractive to golfers who play a fair amount, but not enough to justify a full membership. This could be perfect for a golfer, maybe a weekender or from a few towns over, who plays 10 to 12 rounds a year.

You could even think of it like a loyalty rewards program, because those with Social Memberships at Hayward Golf Club will receive the following:

• 10% Off All Green Fees Throughout the Entire 2019 Season
• Discounted Member Cart Fees
• $10 Club Credit Redeemable in the Caddyshak Bar and Grill
• Voting Privileges in Board of Directors Elections
• Access to Member Events

The price for the 2019 Social Membership is $100, plus tax.

This would make for a great Christmas present for someone in your family or a friend who is a great patron of Hayward Golf Club. Or you could even buy one for yourself, and save money all throughout the 2019 season at HGC.

Winter Activities!

The holiday season has arrived, and with it we’re announcing a slate of off-season activities in the Caddyshak Bar and Grill! As we did last year, we will be holding weekly cribbage and cornhole events.

Cribbage league will take place on Thursday evenings from 6pm – 9pm in the bar, starting on December 6th. It will be a two-person league, with new partners drawn at random each week before the start of play.

If you know of anybody you think might be interested, but is outside the reach of our posts and emails, please feel free to let them know about this league. It is open to anybody. We look forward to seeing all our fellow cribbage fans!

Cornhole will run on Fridays from 2pm – 10pm in the Caddyshak, starting on December 7th. In addition to just the cornhole, we’re adding a dart board and pool table to the mix to provide even more excitement to the days’ activities! We’re also in the planning stages for a “Bar Olympics”-style event after the New Year, involving two-person teams competing in cornhole, pool, and darts. Keep an eye out for further details!

Cash bar and select snacks and food will be available for both the cribbage and cornhole events. We do not currently anticipate skipping any weeks for the holidays (given where in the week the holidays themselves are falling this year), but we will let folks know if the schedule does have to change for some reason.
