2022 Couples Events: Sundays Throughout The Season

We wanted to draw everybody’s attention to our upcoming slate of couples events on select Sundays throughout the season!  This is a fantastic opportunity to have a chance to play with other couples and enjoy fun company, entertaining golf, and — hopefully — beautiful weather!

Other than the Couples Club Championship, all events will be 9 holes. Obviously, couples are more than welcome to continuing playing all 18 holes, but only the first 9 will be involved in the day’s format.  Women will play from the red tees. Men will play the tees they commonly hit from (white, white-gold, or gold).

Entry is $5 per couple for prizes (again, except for the Club Championship). Tee times start at 1:00pm.

The current schedule for the season is as follows:

• May 22nd — Two Person Scramble
• June 12th — Fairways, Greens, and Putts
• June 26th — Hole Mix-up (Back Nine)
• July 10th — Luck of the Draw
• July 24th — Couples Club Championship (18 holes, 12:00pm start)
• July 31st — Hole Mix-up (Front Nine)
• August 21st — Poker Hand Golf

Suggestions for other competition formats are encouraged! The goal for these events is to have formats where all golfers have a chance to win, regardless of ability level. Guests are welcome.

Golf Course Soft Opening TODAY!

We’re happy to report that the grounds crew was able to get ahead of schedule with mowing/cutting, and they feel the course is in a good enough place to launch a soft opening — walking only — starting from 1:00pm this afternoon!

Junior Golf Program Starting in June!

As we have for the last several decades, Hayward Golf Club is once again inviting all young golfers (and aspiring golfers!) to our six-week junior golf clinic in June!

The program is designed to give juniors the opportunity to learn about every aspect of the game, and will include multiple separate playing stations: putting, chipping, pitching, and full swing. Additionally, our experienced teaching staff provides a golf course knowledge station and mini par 3 course.

• Program runs every Thursday afternoon between 1-3pm from June 9th to July 21st (skipping June 30th).
• Aimed at ages 6 to 14.
• Program will culminate with our Junior Championship.
• Cost is $50 per child (which includes prizes and gift for all participants).
• Clubs will be provided for children who don’t have any.

Pre-registration is strongly suggested. Golfers can register in the Pro Shop or by calling (715) 634-2760.

Also, the HGC Women’s League has very generously donated a sum of money to go towards junior program scholarships, so if any juniors out there need some help covering the entry, contact the Pro Shop!

Driving Range Opening Today / Course Opening Friday!

The weather has finally cooperated enough for us to open up the driving range/practice facility today, starting at 12:00pm. We will be hitting off the all-weather tees for the time being.

Additionally, the golf course itself will be open for play starting on this Friday, April 29th. We are hosting a JV Golf Invite on Friday, but there are tee times available before and after the event. To book a time, call the Pro Shop at (715) 634-2760, or you can also book online right HERE.

2022 Advertising Opportunity

Businesses or individuals in the Hayward area will be able to advertise on our golf cart fleet’s GPS system during this coming golf season, so if you’re interested in getting some unique exposure with a high guest visibility, this could be the avenue for you!

A variety of ad sizes and configurations will be available for presentation and placement on the GPS screen, as well the option for short video advertisements.  See more specific details below.

Course Opening Update

Spring in Wisconsin means you can never truly bank on things going the way you’d like, and this week has been a textbook example of that. Cooler temperatures brought a bit more snow, and although the forecast shows of several days of rain coming later this week, it’s now looking like opening day will happen sometime late next week. Again, we will keep you all posted as soon as we know definitively.

Superintendent Jeff Streeter reports that the golf course came through the winter well, with no ice damage or snow damage. So once the course is clear of the new snow, it won’t take the grounds crew long at all to get the course ready for play… as long as weather conditions allow!

In more encouraging news, today we received delivery of a brand new range ball machine! So be on the lookout for that once the range opens, which we hope will also be sometime next week.

The Caddyshak will open for bar service whenever the golf course officially opens. The date for kitchen operations in the Caddyshak is still up in the air, but hot dogs, brats, and assorted snacks will be available in the bar.

2022 Spring Challenge!

Once the golf course is open, we’re excited to bring back our Spring Challenge two-person match play event!

We would like to begin assembling the field as soon as possible, so contact the Pro Shop if you’re interested in being part of the fun! Can 2021’s champions, Butch Johnson and Jason Speros, repeat after they defeated former Pro Ben Kanters and new Pro Mitch Byrd in the finals one year ago? Only time will tell!

Range and Course Status Report!

We’re closer to pinning down exactly when the golf facility will become fully operational! As you can see in the photo, snow is mostly gone from the course, and assuming the weather continues to cooperate, we’re targeting a course opening for the weekend of April 22nd. We will obviously make everybody aware should that shift a bit in either direction.

Additionally, we’re hoping to open the driving range and practice facility by mid-week next week (the 20th/21st area)!  Keep an eye out for any further updates, or feel free to call the Pro Shop (715-634-2760) to get the very latest!

Also, the Caddyshak Bar & Grill is still hiring for the following positions:

• Head Cook/Kitchen Manager
• Line Cooks
• Bartenders
• Servers

Finally, some of you may have noticed the display of past Hayward Golf Club (and Hayward Golf & Tennis!) bag tags located in the clubhouse’s main entryway. Well, we’re looking to put together something similar for old HGC (and HG&T) logo golf balls. Interclub Sign-Ups Now Open!

It’s never too early to start assembling our Interclub fields, so we would appreciate if you would consider being part of the groups of Passholders representing Hayward Golf Club in 2022!

This year, the following events are planned:

Women
June 6th — Hayward
July 25th — Spooner
August 8th — Voyager Village

Men
June 8th — Turtleback
July 6th — Voyager Village
July 20th — Hayward
August 24th — Spooner

Tee times for each event start at 12:00pm. Entry is $50, which includes:

• 18-holes with Cart
• Food
• Prizes

Each team is comprised of eight golfers, and it’s first come, first served, so if you’re interested — and are available on any of the dates outlined — let us know! This is great way to represent the golf community at HGC and hopefully bring home some hardware!

2022 Masters Pool!

We’re about to kick-off our series of Major Pools at HGC with The Masters! The rules are simple:

• Pick any four players in the field. The three best will be counted.
• Pick what you think the winner’s score (+/- to par) will be, for tie-breaking purposes.

Entry is $10. There are three ways to make your picks:

1. Stop in the Pro Shop
2. Email picks to proshop@haywardgolf.com
3. Email picks to Rob Frenchick at robfrenchick@gmail.com

You must get your picks in by no later than the evening of Wednesday, April 6th.

Course Update!

As spring rolls on, we wanted to give everybody a current status report about the condition of the course.  As you can see in the photos, we still have a fair amount of ice and snow cover in many areas.  If the weather cooperates, we hope to soon have a more definite idea of when the course might open, but as of this point, it is still likely to be at least a couple of weeks away.  Of course, we will open as soon as weather and conditions allow!

In the meantime, stay tuned for periodic updates via email, on our website, and on our Facebook page.  And if you haven’t yet purchased your 2022 Season Pass, now would be an excellent time to do so!  The Pro Shop is currently open on weekdays from 9am to 4pm, so feel free to stop in!
