Masters Sunday Par-3 Course Event / Spring Challenge

The Masters is one of golf’s most storied traditions, and this year at HGC, we’re looking to make some new traditions of our own. Inspired by the Masters’ own Par-3 Contest, on Sunday, April 11th, we’re going to be setting up a 9-hole Par-3 course on our scenic Back 9 (the full 18 holes will still be open for play throughout the day), which will provide the opportunity for some unique hole configurations, and we think it’s going to be a fun layout.

A $25 entry fee will provide you access to the Par-3 course, a proxy game, and 10 prop bets related to the results of Sunday’s round at the Masters.

Following play, we will be inviting participants to view the final round of the Masters in the Caddyshak Bar & Grill, where the prop bets will be settled, and food and drink specials will be available.

This should be a fantastic way to get in some golf of your own before watching the pros reach for greatness at Augusta!

Swing King Hole-in-One Membership

We have once again partnered with Swing King to host a Hole-in-One contest one our third hole, and as we did last year, we’re able to offer a Swing King Membership, where each time you play, you’ll have a shot at a designated prize amount. Any and all proceeds received by Hayward Golf Club through the offering of this package will go directly towards our on-course improvement fund.

Membership Tiers
Par — $100 for the chance to win $2,500.
Birdie — $175 for the chance to win $5,000.
Eagle — $300 for the chance to win $10,000.

Course Update — Opening This Week!

The weather has been cooperating to such an extent that we now feel fairly comfortable in targeting a course opening this week on Monday, March 29th, at 10:00am, walking only.  The driving range will also be opening on Monday.

Superintendent Jeff Streeter reports that conditions are good at this point.

The weather forecast for the middle of the week does not look particularly promising, but we will be open for walking play on Tuesday through Thursday if the weather allows; we plan to take tee times starting at 10 am on Friday, April 2nd, with carts available.

Also, we’re looking to find older member bag tags from 2017 and earlier, as we’re putting together a display of tags from over the years. So if any passholders have held onto their tags from some past years, and would be willing to part with them in the interest of preserving a bit of our club’s history, please let us know!

Springtime in the Caddyshak

As we’re getting closer to the start of the season, we’re currently targeting an April 10th opening for the Caddyshak Bar & Grill. Depending on when the course opens, the bar might potentially be open earlier, but the kitchen will begin operating on Saturday, the 10th, as part of Masters weekend.

We’re also working on a few projects to further enhance the guest experience in the Caddyshak:

• A second pergola, overlooking the 18th green. Construction will begin as soon as the snow is gone, and this will bring total outdoor capacity to over 60 seats.

• New “Grab & Go” area, to include breakfast items, sandwiches, pizza, and more.  New warming equipment has been purchased.

• New carpeting throughout the Caddyshak facility.

We’ll continue to keep you all updated throughout the spring as these projects (and others) come to fruition!

And thank you to Shirriff Construction for the use of their scissor lift, which was utilized to install 108 acoustical sound boards in the dining room and bar area.
