Hayward Civic Club Benefit Tournament — August 4th

As part of our major fundraising campaign for course improvements (which you can read more about HERE), we’re bringing back the Hayward Civic Club Benefit Tournament after a hiatus of several years!

The proceeds will entirely benefit our course improvement fund. Individuals can sign up, and the 3-person teams will be assigned by the tournament committee. In addition, these 3-person teams will be playing in 6-somes for some added excitement as you keep an eye on your competition.

There will also be a Calcutta, providing an opportunity to be a winner even if you’re not on the winning team. Full details are below. Sign up in the Pro Shop.

Fourth of July Community Picnic and Fireworks — July 4th

The Hayward Civic Club is continuing its annual tradition of hosting a Fourth of July community picnic and fireworks display! Beginning at 5:00pm in the field behind the Primary and Intermediate Schools, there will be food and drink vendors (with a variety of offerings, including burgers, brats, hot dogs, wings, beer, smoothies, shaved ice, and more!), a DJ, and the Hayward Hawks baseball game (starting at 7:00pm).

Additionally, this year will showcase a Little League game on the field prior to the Hawks game, as well as an Ice Cream Sandwich Eating Contest — sponsored by Kemps — at 8:00pm.  There will also be a series of kids games starting at 7:00pm.

The fireworks show will begin after nightfall, roughly at 10:00pm. This is always one of the most fun evenings of our summer season, and we hope you’ll join us to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day!

We are also looking for volunteers to help with working the beer tent, parking and crowd control from the hours of 5:00pm to 9:00pm, additional hands for the ice cream eating contest, as well as volunteers for clean-up effort in the early morning hours of Friday, July 5th.

This Fourth of July picnic was born through the efforts of our membership and is only made possible through the efforts of our current membership taking part.  If that is something you’d be willing to assist us with, contact Ben Kanters at the Pro Shop.

Swing King Hole-In-One Contest / “Roll Back the Clock” Fish Fry — June 28th

Swing King Hole-In-One Contest

To add a little extra excitement to rounds at Hayward Golf Club, we’ve partnered with Swing King to offer guests and members a Hole-In-One Contest on Hole #3. Those who are interested in entering may sign up in the Pro Shop for a $5 chance to win $10,000, or a $10 chance to win $20,000.

A solar-powered camera behind the the green on Hole #3 will capture the action in dynamic fashion, and if you’re lucky enough to ace the hole, the footage of your experience will be a keepsake that you can have!

All proceeds derived from the contest will go towards our course improvement initiatives, which are outlined HERE.

“Roll Back the Clock” Fish Fry — Friday, June 28th

Our next Fish Fry dinner will be held on Friday, the 28th of June! The price will be $13.99 – all you can eat – and the menu will include:

• Broiled or Deep-Fried Pollock
• Coleslaw
• Baked Potato or Fresh-Cut French Fries
• Breadsticks

We will also be offering two walleye options: walleye cheeks for $15.99 and walleye fillets for $23.99. Both will come with the same sides as the regular menu, but these will not be all you can eat, however. We will be serving from 5:00pm to 9:00pm in the Caddyshak Bar & Grill.

5th Annual Summer Classic — July 14th

One of the most entertaining events we run each Summer is back again this year!

Teams of 2 will compete in flights over the course of 27 holes and 3 different formats (Scramble, Best Ball, Alternate Shot) to determine a champion! The course will be set up in a unique way to provide the most exciting and compelling event possible!

As part of the weekend fun, we’re thrilled to announce the Summer Classic Long Drive Contest, sponsored by Nelson Lumber, on the evening prior to the event – Saturday, July 13th, starting at 6:30pm.

There will be 4 different divisions (Men ages 18-35, 36-50, 51+, and Ladies). Entry fee will be $20. The long drive competition will take place on the Men’s Black Tee on Hole #10, making for an excellent viewing area from the patio and bar. Extremely spectator-friendly!

Knockout head-to-head matches will determine finalists in each flight. Cash payout for Top 3 finishers in each division.

Preview of Coming Attractions — Lumber Empire / Fish Fry / Couples League

Now that the summer golf season has finally kicked into gear, we’re bringing some upcoming events to your attention!

To start, we wanted to make everybody aware that our Junior Program will be taking over our driving range on Friday mornings from 8am – 10am (June 14th to July 12th). We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause for some, but it’s all in service of growing the game of golf for the next generation. Also, we have a very small number of spots available for the Junior Program, so if it’s something your child would be interested in, stop in at the Pro Shop! Details available HERE.

Lumber Empire Senior Tournament

On Sunday, June 23rd, Hayward Golf Club is hosting the Lumber Empire senior (ages 50+) tournament series, a traveling event that plays at six courses over the summer. On the 23rd, it’s Hayward’s turn, and we still have some spots available. It’s a great opportunity for members and non-members alike to play with golfers in their same age bracket.

• Four Age Divisions: 50-56, 57-63, 64-69, and 70+, with Gross and Net in each division
• Each Age Net Division will use USGA Handicap
• $45 entry fee for non-members, $20 entry fee for members
• Optional $10 Low Gross
• Optional $10 Skins
• Tee Times from 10:00am – 12:00pm

Couples League

Also on Sunday, June 23rd, is our next Couples League outing. Tee times are available between 1pm and 2pm. The actual event competition will be 9-holes, but couples are more than welcome to continue on after 9 if they so choose. Cost is $5 per couple for prizes.

We also want to congratulate and thank all who participated in our Hayward Open Tournament this past weekend, with a special shout-out to this year’s Champion, Jack Gustafson, who triumphed after a 3-person, 3-hole playoff with a final score of 180!  This marked his second victory in the tournament, with his first coming back in 2017.
