Men’s Club Championship – August 18th and 19th

As we roll into August, it’s time to start thinking about our Men’s Club Championship, which will take place over two days – Saturday, August 18th and Sunday, August 19th – and which will be open to all male members of Hayward Golf Club.

On that Saturday, you can play golf with whichever other golfers you’d like. You will already be flighted, but you can build your own foursome with anybody (or have Pro Shop staff help put you into a group if you’d prefer). Tee times will run from 11:30am to 1:30pm, with dinner to follow play on Saturday evening. During dinner, we will reveal the pairings and tee times for Sunday’s second round, which will run between 9:00am and 11:00am.

We will have a Senior Division for golfers ages 62 and over with a separate Senior Club Champion. So whatever level of skill you’re at, whatever your handicap might be, or which tee box you like to play from, there will be a flight for you to be competitive in!

Trivia Night Dinner: Saturday, August 11th – Sign Up Now!

We ready to supply some details about Hayward Golf Club’s second annual Trivia Night Dinner! It was a great event last year, and we’re confident this year’s version will provide another terrific evening. A $30 per person entry will cover dinner, tax, tip, and a variety of fantastic prizes that will be won during the trivia rounds. Open to members, their guests, and the general public.

Hosted in the Caddyshak Bar & Grill, the Trivia Night Dinner will begin at 6:00pm on Saturday, August 11th, with a menu consisting of:

– Your choice of 10 oz. Walleye or 10 oz. Ribeye
– Garlic Mashed Potatoes
– Homemade Coleslaw
– Breadstick
– Dessert Bar

Whether you’re a serious trivia competitor, looking to laugh from the sidelines, or just want to eat and drink, there’s a place for you!

• Walleye or Ribeye dinner selection (and how you would like your ribeye prepared)
• Number of people on your team (between 2 and 8)

Joe Kuta Senior Tournament – Saturday, August 4th

Joe Kuta Senior Tournament – Saturday, August 4th

On Saturday, August 4th, we will be holding our annual Joe Kuta Senior Tournament. Open to golfers (member and non-member) age 50 and older and flighted by handicap, “The Kuta,” as it has affectionately come to be known, is a terrific event and one of the highlights of the summer season!

Entry is $25 for members (which includes meal and prizes) and $45 for guests (which includes green fee, meal, and prizes), with an optional skins game. Tee times are available from 8:45am through 11:00am.

Lastly, anybody interested in running for the Board, please submit bios to the Pro Shop, or contact President Al Kiwazek. There are going to be multiple vacancies, to be filled around the time of our Annual Meeting on August 27th.  Deadline for submission of bios is August 10th.

Couples Club Championship – Sunday, July 29th

An annual tradition, our Couples Club Championship will be held on Sunday, July 29th, with tee times starting at 12:00pm. Open to the membership, this is a great event for couples to have a fun round of golf together on the course. The Championship will be using the fabled Chapman alternate shot format to provide a little bit of extra excitement.

Entry per couple is $35, which includes prizes, trophies, and two drink tees which will be redeemable in the Caddyshak Bar for one drink each.

Last year’s champs Greg & Teresa Konat (Net) and Mark & Linda Klett (Gross) will be looking to defend their titles!

From 2:00pm – 4:00pm this Thursday, the 12th of July, we are having a Titleist Vokey wedge demo day, featuring the new SM7 wedges. Pro Ben Kanters will be on the range with multiple grooves, grinds, and lofts to try. There will be a Vokey wedge sale taking place that day, as well — 10% off!

Also, our demo clubs from brands such as TaylorMade and Callaway will also be on the range to try.

We’re bringing back Fish Fry for one week again, so join us on Friday, July 13th, for a night of great food!

The price will be $13.99 – all you can eat – and the menu will consist of:

– Broiled or Deep-Fried Pollock
– “Secret Recipe” Oriental Coleslaw
– Baked Potato or Fresh-Cut French Fries
– Breadsticks

We’re also going to be offering a deep-fried walleye version of this meal for $23.99, but the walleye will not be all you can eat. We will be serving from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.
