Roller Board Update and Fourth of July at the Caddyshak

We hope you’ve all be enjoying the new roller we’ve been using on our greens! The feedback we’ve been getting has been incredibly positive about the new condition and speed of the greens.

Our 100 square board (details can be found HERE) is still filling up, being about 34% full at this point in time. Stop in the Pro Shop to help with this important course improvement and to sign up for a chance to win some big bucks.

Also, we wanted to let everyone know that the Caddyshak’s bar will be open through the evening on Tuesday, July 4th, leading up to the fireworks show at 10pm. Our patio will provide incredible views of the fireworks, so come on out! Our lot by the Caddyshak offers easy parking, as well.

Patio Wine Tasting Event! – Saturday, July 8th

Some of you may know – and others may not know – that we’ve put a lot of effort into making our patio area a beautiful place to spend some time. Whether before your round, after your round, or any time at all, the newly-updated patio and pergola seating area offers the best views of the course on the property to enjoy while having a drink with friends.

As such, to really celebrate this updated space, we’re hosting a Wine Tasting Event on Saturday, July 8th, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. We are in the process of building a new wine list for the Caddyshak Bar and Grill, and you will be given a chance to try several of the possible selections: four white wines, four red wines, and a sangria…

• Tiki Tonga Draft/House Sangria
• Rheinhessen Riesling
• Candoni Pinot Grigio
• Butterfield Station Chardonnay
• Sileni Estates Sauvignon Blanc
• Mark West Black Pinot Noir
• Campus Oaks Old Vine Zinfandel
• Butterfield Station Cabernet Sauvignon
• Casa Smith Barbera

Price for entry will be $20 per person, which will entitle you to sample 4 of the above wines (roughly half of a standard glass per serving), and will also give you access to hors d’oeuvres, including:

• Cheeses and Meats
• Assorted Crackers
• Olives and Pickles
• Shrimp Dip
• Bacon-Wrapped Smokies Sausages

Also, our full bar will be open if you want to purchase beer, mixed drinks, or additional wine; if you’ve already sampled your 4 wines and would like to have more, we will be offering full glasses of wine at a reduced price of $3.50 per glass.

Course Improvements and Greens Roller Fundraiser

As some of you may know, we’re in the process of rebuilding a tee box on hole number 12. Progress is continuing, and our head superintendent believes it could be in use by sometime in September!  Here are a couple of pictures of the ongoing work.

A big thank you to Peter and Tracy Kooman for their efforts in spearheading this project and donating to the cause. Additional thanks to Larry Hendrickson, Bruce Christensen, Steven Broback, Greg Swiler, Barry Swiler, Larry Damico, John Seaberg, Rick Neville, John Curphey, and Derek Nelson.

Greens Roller Fundraiser

We had the opportunity to demo a greens roller over the Memorial Day and Hayward Open weekends, and the response was very positive to the improved condition of the greens. As such, with the overwhelmingly positive reaction, we are planning to invest in a roller of our own, something which was not budgeted for in 2017 but will represent a tremendous course improvement for us, bringing increased smoothness, speed, and healthier greens to Hayward Golf Club.

We are kicking off a fundraiser that will not only allow you to support this important step for our course, but will also give you a chance to win some big bucks.

As you can see above, we’ve got a square board up in the pro shop. Each square costs $100 and will entitle you to a chance to win. We’re hosting a Packers party on September 10th for the Packers/Seahawks game, and during the game we’ll be giving away four cash payouts of $1,000, with the remainder of the entry money going towards the purchase of the greens roller.

This is the setup: each square is associated with a set of secret numbers (to be revealed later), and if your numbers correspond to the score of the game at the end of each of the four quarters, you win $1,000 (for each quarter!).  In total, this fundraiser will account for about half of the money we need for the roller, and the club will make up the difference.

It should be a really fun event and will go towards helping elevate our club to an even greater height!

Father’s Day Weekend Dinner and Future Events

In celebration of Father’s Day, we’re hosting a special dinner on Saturday, June 17th!  The price will be $15.99 per person, and the menu will include:

•    Choice of Walleye, Ribeye, or Prime Rib
•    Twice-Baked Potato or Fresh Cut Fries
•    Salad
•    Dessert

The bar will be fully stocked, and dinner will be served between 5:00pm and 8:00pm.  To make a reservation, or for more information, call the Caddyshak Bar & Grill at (715) 634-2460!

 

Lumber Empire

On Sunday, June 25th, Hayward Golf Club is hosting the Lumber Empire senior (ages 50+) tournament series, a traveling event that plays at seven courses over the summer. On the 25th, it’s Hayward’s turn, and we still have some spots available. It’s a great opportunity for members and non-members alike to play with golfers in their same age bracket.

• Three Age Divisions: 50-57, 58-64, and 65+, with Gross and Net in each division
• Each Age Net Division will use USGA Handicap
• $45 entry fee for non-members, $20 entry fee for members
• Optional $10 Low Gross
• Optional $10 Skins
• Tee Times from 10:00am – 12:00pm

Father’s Day Dinner and Upcoming Events Preview

First, we’d like to thank and congratulate all the players who made the 2017 Hayward Open a big success!  We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and the tournament went off without a hitch.  Special congratulations to champion Jack Gustafson, who – with a score of 174 – won the tournament by 6 strokes!

We’re already looking forward to next year!

Next, we’re announcing a Father’s Day Weekend dinner on Saturday, June 17th.

Price will be $15.99 per person, and the menu will include:

•    Dessert (We’re finalizing our specific plans for this, but be assured it will be sweet and delicious!)

We also want to remind everybody about our “Twilight Zone” promotion for this Thursday, June 8th.

Finally, we wanted to make sure that parents, grandparents, and guardians of all types are aware that our Junior Program will begin on Friday, June 16th.  It will run 8:00am to 10am every Friday from the 16th to July 21st.  There are only a few spots still available, but if you have a junior ages 6 to 14 that would be interested in learning the fundamentals of this great game, consider signing them up!  The registration fee is $45.
